Mr. Wilton, Times correspondent at Omsk, writes that 'Dietrich's successes have nonplussed the Bolshevik commanders. Red reserves were rushed hither and thither and the peasants called up in all directions and forced to construct trenches. The comamnders are now modifying their plans and reinforcing from Turkestan. The changes seriously widen Dietrich's offensive and necessitate fresh measures in order to protect the rear and maintain supplies.—Times. ON THE DWINA, HEAVY LOSSES ON BOLSHEVIKS INFLICTED. London, Sept. 15. Received Sept. 16, 11.35 p.m. A War Office communique states: We repulsed a determined attack on this Dwina, inflicting heavy loss, and occupied Onega without opposition. The Russians arc successfully continuing their offensive against the Bolsheviks along the railway front. General Mamontov during August broke through the Bolshevik lines, and, continues largescale raids around Tamlov. Aeroplanes located and communicated to Genera] Mamontov reports of a serious Bolshevik shortage of ammunition. General Mamontov had an excellent reception everywhere, and released SCj,OOO untrained Bolsheviks for their homes. He also raised two additional infantry divisions, —Aus.-M./I Cable Assn. BOLSHEVIKS MARCH ON OMSK. Stockholm, Sept. 14It is reported that the Bolsheviks have captured Tobolsk and are marching on Omsk. The authorities at Archangel discovered a Bolshevik plot to surrender the town by an armed revolt. Seven of the leaders were sentenced to death and five to penal servitude.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
