It Is understood that the Union Company's largo passenger steamer Maunganul, which was released from Imperial service in June last and is being converted into an oil burner at 1 Port Chalmers, will come to Auckland at the end of tho year tp relieve the Makura temporarily in the Vancouver service (says the New Zealand Herald). The Maunganui is 500 gross tons smaller than the Makura, and on ordinary running was a slower vessel as a i coal burner, but it is understood that with all j boilers in use she could develop nearly 17 1 knots.
