A proposal to commence the manufacture of whey butter was considered by the suppliers of the Royal Anus cheese factory on Friday evening at the invitation of the proprietor (Mr. W. J. Neilson). It was considered that the adoption of the proposal would increase the price paid to suppliers to nearly 2s per lb. of butter-fat; and the meeting unanimously consented to the new departure. A strong committee was set up with a view to making arrangements for a dinner, social, and dance to celebrate the completion of a successful season. Contractors for a supply of toad metal for the Stratford Borough Council, without knowing that they were trcs passing, removed a quantity of stone from the Patea River within the boundaries of King Edward Park. The Board accepted an apology and £lO as comr pensation. Mr. A. R. Bottomley and Miss B, A. Dean were united in ■ marriage at Whnngamomona on Thursday last. Tits ceremony was performed by Rev. T. H. C. Partridge. The bride, who was given away by her mother, wore a sirbardine costume and hat of grey silk lined with pink. Mr. A. Coxhead was best man, and Miss Priest (Kaponga) was bridesmaid. The Wedding March was played by Mrs. Jenkinson. After the wedding breakfast, at the home of the bride's mother, the newly-married couple left by train for New Plymouth where the honeymoon is being spent. The annual report of the Makahu Dairy Company presented to the meeting of shareholders last week stated: "The past season was' a fairly satisfactory one. Better results were obtained from the milk supplied (which increased a little) than from milk supplied the previous season. The price was better by Id per lb., and advances against cheese in store were made fourteen day, earlier, and the cold storage

accommodation was less acute than it had been. The factory is in working order to receive milk when suppliers are ready. There is a balance of £503. The payment for butter-fat is Is 3d per lb.; milk received, 671,341 lbs ; butterfat, 20,088 lbs.; test, 3.88; cheese, 08,022 lbs.; milk to cheese, 9.78; cheese to butter-fat, 2.63." It was decided that a further pay-out be made from tha balance. Mr. Manning (retiring! was again elected to the directorate, and Mr. Power was re-appointed auditor. At a subsequent meeting of directors, Mr A Coyne was re-elected chairman of directors.

The annual meeting of the To Popo Dairju Company was held on Saturday, when the following report was presented: The company is to be congratulated on a successful year. The output, the average test, the yield, and the pay-out all show a considerable improvement. The output has risen from 41 tons to 54 tons, and suppliers should receive, when all cheese is shipped, a bonus of 2'/ s d per lb., making a total for the sea'iori ,of Is 9}d. Chesse-making figures: Ll>s. milk, 1[189,285; average test, 3.98; lbs. fat, 47,332; lbs. cheese factory weight, 121,043; lbs. milk to lib. cheese, 077; lbs. cheese to 1 lb. butter-fat, 2.57. The retiring director, Mr. J. W. Gibbs, was re-elected, and Mr. A. Coleman was again appointed auditor. The directorate re-elected Mr. G. C. Knox, as chairman.
