With the good weather and beautiful rain things in the dairying lino are booming in Midhlrst with the two factories, which is giving a bit of healthy rivalry. I see that the County Council are also getting to work with the footpaths and are making a curbing. Our new engineer seems to be working on the right lines and anything that he does Is thero to stay. On the 12th Inst a Church of England so. cial was hoid, and the weather conditions being all that could be desired, there was a very big house and the function can be recorded as a qualided success. There was a strong committee of local ladles, who are to be congratulated on the excellent arrangements for the social. The stage was tastefully furnished as a drawing room, and the supper, contributed voluntarily, in chargo of Mcsrtames Symons and Stephenson, was especially ,?nod. The committee wish to acknowledge .tntefully the contributions and help given by numbers of the other churches in Mldhirst. Vmongst the visitors from Stratford were the Vicar and Mrs Howard. It Is a hard thing to individualise amongst the manv •.villing helpers who assisted In the success of Iho social, but Mr C. Symond Is deserving of special mention in Ibis respect. The piano. lent by.
