Since the removal of the price-fixing regulations the highest prices recorded for 40 years have obtained for wheaten and oaten chaff. PROHIBITION REFERENDUM. Sydney, Sept. 13. The National Party Conference resolved to urge the Government to take a referendum on prohibition, and that the party favors prohibition on the majority basis. STRIKE AT FREEZING WORKS. Sydney, Sept. 13. The slicers at the meat works have struck for increased wages, rendering idle all the meat works; in the metropolitan area. INCAPACITATED SOLDIERS. > Melbourne, Sept. 13. The latest figures show that 12,000 soldiers are totally incapacitated, including 464 mental cases.
