NEW ZEALAND EXPORTS.

A TWELVE MILLION INCREASE. Nearly a twelve million increase in the value of New Zealand exports for the year ended July 31, 101(1, is reported by the Government Statistician, Mr. Malcolm Fraser. The figures, with those for the corresponding twelve months, 1917-1918. are as under: 1917-1918 £29,372,954 191R-1910 £41,276,330 Increase, 1918-1919 £11,903,385 _ In respect to wool (paid for "prompt," i.e., 14 days after valuation) and meat fliid dairy produce (advanced against before shipment), some deductions must be made N from the, roundly, £12,000,000 excess returns, inasmuch as the money Will have gone into circulation; but the greatly improved cargo shipping facilities during the past twelve months •have materially aided the export of tallow, hides, pelts, hemp, and other valuable produce. The above figures relate to produce of the Dominion only. Imports likewise show an increase, but not in volume. The imports for the first seven months of 1918 were valued at £13,391,165; those for the first seven months of 1919 at £17.583,778, an increase in value Of £4.104.013; but the volume; that is the goods themselves, has been greatly reduced, especially from America, where the rate of exchange is against the Dominion.
