TANKS.
AN INTERESTING STATEMENT. By Teletraph—Press Assn—Copyright. London, Sept. 11. Sir Eustaco Tennyson D'Eyncourt, Director of Naval Construction at the Admiralty, addressing the British Association, said that 13 varieties of tanks had been used. One of the latest constructed Would enable a (101b gun or Oin. howitzer to be carried on top, which could be quickly dismounted when a desired position was reached. 'Another could carry 50 men or 10 tons of supplies. Altogether 3036 tanks were produced, Including 245 whippets. Over 400 were used simultaneously in action,—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
