A Hawke's Bay resident states that there is a splendid demand throughout the Dominion for good draught horses, and on Friday last in Auckland he saw a draught gelding priced at £IOO. The committee of the New Plymouth Beautifying Society held their meeting on Thursday evening at the rooms of the president. Only one member (through sickness) was absent, showing the active and enthusiastic interest taken. It was resolved to actively canvas for funds to enable various work to be undertaken and to organise an entertainment for the same purpose. The opinion was generally expressed that as a sound and profitable investment the attraction of visitors to the town should appeal to its business men. A list of Auckland firms who have received certificates entitling them to fly the Repatriation Flag of Honor has bean published in an Auckland paper. The list, which has been issued by the district repatriation officer, Mr. P. H. Burbush, contains the names of 86 employers who for the time being have fulfilled all their obligations in the matter of the repatriation of their employees.
