SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN EXPORTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. The Government Statistician reports that the value of Ne* Zealand exports for the twelve months ended July 31, 1»19, increased by £11,903,385, compared with the year ended July, 11)18, the totals being respectively £29,372,9:14 and £41,276,339, Imports also showed an increase in value, but not in volume. The imports for the first seven months of 1918 were valued at £13,139,185. and those for the first seven months of 1916 at £17,583,778. The volume of the goods themselves has been greatly reduced, especially from America, where the rate of exchange is against the Dominion. LORD JELLICOE, Dunedin, Last Night, Lord Jellicoe visited Port Chalmers today and made a trip to the Otago Heads, where he inspected the fortification*, returning to Dunedin about mid-day. He was entertained at a civic dinner this evening, and will leave' for the north to-morrow morning. PURCHASE OF WOOLLEN MILLS. Auckland, Last Night- ' Tlje purchase of the Oamaru Woolien Mills by Messrs. Macky, Logan and CaVlwell, Ltd,, was announced last week. Since then the firm has been negotiating for tho purchase of the Timam Wool'en Mills and Stubbs' woollen manufacturing plant at Palmerston North. The negotiation* nov* now been completed, and the price for the three businesses is over £200,000.
