Inspector W. Hendry, of the Wanganui Police District,, in on'an official visit of inspection to New Plymouth, A New York cable states that Cardinal Merrier arrived there on Tuesday aboard a transport, and was met by Church and Government officials.
A Washington cablegram reports that reliablo news from Tokio says that Count Ishii, formerly Ambassador in Washington, will probably be made Japanese Ambassador to Britain.
The Eev. W.-'B. Scott, of Riccarbon, who has been on active service as a chaplain, is returning to New Zealand by the troopship Hororata. Mr Scott was well-known as a football referee in Taranaki, being, stationed at one time at Kaponga, and also at Wanganui.
