SOLDIERS' HOSTEL BALL.
THE FINANCIAL RESULT. The final meeting of the New Plymouth Hostel Ball Committee was held in the Kawaroa Park Bungalow. In the absence of Mr. J. Johnston (chairman), Mr. V. Beal occupied the chair. •• The. secretary read the balance sheet, showing a credit balance of £54. In moving the adoption of the balance sheet, Mr. Beal spoke in appreciative terms of the work of the ladies' committee, under Mrs. Oliver. To them, he remarked, was largely due the success of the ball.
The committee desires to express its appreciation to the members of Mrs. George's orchestra a)id the New Plymouth Citizens' Band for their substantial donations. Appreciation also was recorded of the assistance given in money and otherwise by many others, particularly Miss Rita Sole, the New Plymouth Borough Council, New Plymouth Gas Company, Bell Block Factory, and Mr. Newton King. Later in the evening Messrs Johnston and Howarth waited upon the Mayoress (Mrs. Burgess) and handed over the balance.
Mrs. Burgess expressed her thanks to the committee for its effort in connection with the Soldiers' Hostel.
