THE TARANAKI TEAM.

The following have been selected to play Auckland at the Recreation Grounds tomorrow afternoon:—

Full-back: Oliver. Three-quarters: Hickey, Gibson, Stewart. Five-eighths: S. Cameron, Coutts. Half: Atkins. Winß-forward: Tale. Forwards: Burke. Norgate, McCook, Masters, King, Carlson, Soffc.

Emergencies—Backs: N. Klvell and S. George; forwards: Taylor. The Auckland Rugby representatives arrive by the lturawa to-morrow morning, and return by the same boat at night. Tiie Taranaki players notified to assemble at tho Red House Hotel, New riymoutli, to-night for practise. A great deal of Interest is being evinced in the game throughout the province, and those who followed the fortunes of our players at Wellington are optimistic regarding the possibility of tiie tables being turned on the northern visitors. The playing ground, which has been thoroughly dressed, received a final day's attention from the Jockey Club's 4-ton roller yesterday, and will be in better condition for a fast game than at any previous time this season.

THE WELLINGTON TRIP.

The Taranaki team returned from the Wellington trip early on Tuesday morning per motor. The trip down was made without mishap, but the return. Then about six miles from Levin_ "a big end" gave out, this being, as motorists know, a serious mechanical mishap Mr. Johnstone drove the machine nuietly at almost a walking pace to Levin, which was readied about 1.15 pm„ and the ear was taken to a garage. After dinner tiie garage people got to work and by !) pm. the car was again ready for the road. Less than half a mile had been traversed when the bearing gave out again, and the bus was turned for Levin, where the team lira! to put up for the night. A start was made with effecting repairs, which were completed about 4 p.m. The team meantime had a useful practice. It was nearly 4 p.m. before a start was made for home. The journey was completed without mishap. Bulls was reached for a late tea. The first man was put down at Waverley about 10 20 and Patea was readied about 11 o'clock. Members of the team were dropped at Hawera, Eltliani, Stratfofd, I'i.:, New Plymouth, Waltara was reached before 3 pm.
