THE STRATFORD CANDIDATE. .Mr Robert Masters, who lias boon selected as the accredited candidate for the Liberal Labor Party in connection with the Stratford seal,, was born at Greymouth in 18S0, and was educated there, going with his father, Mr. Jonas Masters, to Stratford about twentythree years ago. Jle was elected a member of the Taranaki Education Hoard about six years ago, defeating Mr \Y. iJ. Anderson, being elected to represent the then Eastern Ward. Twice he was returned unopposed for the same seat, and in 191G was elected chairman of the Board, which positir.il he has since held. Mr Masters has taken an active part'in the work of the A. and P. Association, and has held the office of treasurer for the best part of the Association's existence, in addition to being president for one term. He has also bei ia. member of the executive of the Model Farm since its inception, being one of the prime movers for the establishment of ti.e farm. For a great many years, also, Mr Masters has been a member of the executive of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce- As regards sport, Mr Masters has been closely associated with Taranaki football for a number of years, lie has been a representative player, and for the past fifteen years he has been a member of the Taranaki Rugby Union, holding the office of treasurer. At the time the Borough Council took over the electric light works, Mr Masters was chairman of directors of the private company, having held the post for six When the Repatriation Boards were created a short time ago Mr Masters was appointed to represent the Government on the fJtratford Board. As to Mr. Masters' training in commercial matters, it need only be said that the business of which he is managing director is the largest and most successful of its kind in Taranaki.—Post.
