FITZROY RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the executive of the above association was held in the schoolroom on Friday evening, the president, Mr. E. Griffiths, iu the chair. Correspondenen was received from the executive of the Taranaki Bowling Centre relative to a proposal for a universal Saturday half-holiday. The association Wfas of the opinion that it was a step in the right direction. The Borough Jouneil wrote intimating that the engineer had been authorised to procure guards for the trees proposed to be planted in Sackville Street It was decided to thank the council. As no reply has been received to the petition of the ratepayers asking for the erection of a post office at Fitzroy, the secretary was requested to write to the Chief Postmaster asking him if he has received any information from the Department relative to the matter. The town clerk is to be asked if he has received any reply from the Harbor Board to the petition asking that the reserve at the end of Beach Street be made over to the residents as a recreation reserve. It was decided to call tie Borough Council's attention to the slate of the fooLpath upon which the Waiwakaiho tram shelter has been erected, and to ask that the portion of the footpath in the immediate vicinity be asphalted to the western approach to the Waiwakaiho bridge and made safe for traffic; also to the condition of the water tables on both sides of Kowhai Street at its junction with Devon Line. It was decided to ask when the tram shatter at Strandon is to be erected.
