A SUCCESSFUL MEETING. The New Plymouth Coursing Club's meeting was brought to a conclusion on Saturday afternoon In a most auspicious mantitii. » spite of the unfavorable turn In the woather about mid-day, there was a very fair attendance and an excellent afternoon's sport was witnessed. The third round of the Open Stake (of the valuo of £27, and trophy, second dog £lO and trophy, and third dog £5), was the first event, and that and the semi-final am final, as well as a supplementary slake, in .which five dogs entered, were run without a "jo oourso" or an undecided course being witnessed, and what la more remarkable still, and believed to be a record for the Dominion, there was not a single "kill" during tbe whole afternoon. AH the events wore well got off and the officials, who were the same as on tho first day, carried out their duties to the satisfaction of all parties. Following are the results:— Open Stake.—Third Round: Silent Wave beat Black Pirate; King Pirate beat King Pol; and Gloaming beat Champion Lass. .Semi-final; Silent Wave beat Gloaming; King Pirate, a bye. Final: King Pirate beat Silent Wave The winning dogs were therefore : Mr. G. Malam's blk. d King Pirate 1 Mr. A. HaskoU's Silent Wave 2 Mr. F. Nlchol's blk. d Gloaming 3 Supplementary Stake—Mr. P. Haskell's blk. d. Commenor 1; Mr. W. Haskell's w. 1). Champion Lass 2. The trophies and prize money were presented at night at a largely attended gathering held at Mr. Nichols' rooms, Mr. E. Whittle presiding and making the presentations.
