McEwan and R. C. Butters, the former proved the winner at the fifteenth hole, being 4 up nnd 3 to play. In the first eight holes of the final in the amateur championship of New Zealand, the local player (Crosse) had a leud of 3 holes. The rlaytrs were all square at the end of 3d holes. The 3! th. was halved, and Crosse won the 38th, Duncan missing a two-foot putt
