THIEF WHO WON LOVE OF PASTOR'S WIFE A long dead romance of the underworld was recalled recently in New York when the detective bureau learned of the arrest of Frank Harris, alias Owen Dale, alias Owen Conn, by the police of the Sheffield Avenue station. In March of 1909, the story of the infatuation of the wife of a minister, a social and prison reform worker and the mother of four children, for a convict robber, and of their subsequent elopement, occupied attention of tlie reading public. Mrs Grace Clarksonwas the woman, and the police say Harris was the man. Mrs Clarkson met Harris when she ; visited the comity gaol in a missionary j spirit with her husband. Through her efforts he was paroled; and the love af"fair followed.
Some years later the woman returned to Chicago alone. She obtained a position in a department store, and when the concern suspended business she disappeared. Harris dropped out of sight of the police, until by an unusual chance he was captured after he is said to lu *,ve atI® rob four lwme».
