Rose Wreath. N.Z. TROTTING ASSOCIATION. QUESTION OF DATE FOR TARANAKI. Clirlstchurch, Last Night. The Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association met to-day. Mr. P. Seller was reelected president for the twenty-second year by the unanimous vote of tho Board, and In returning thanks he said he hoped that during the coming year the clubs would get their proper due in the way of totallsator permits. Mr, H. F. Nlcoll was elected vice-president. Applications for registration from the Methven and Masterton Trotting Clubs were held over pending replies to communications forwarded by the Board. In regard to the Taranakl Trotting Club's application for permission to race on' February nil., it was decided to ask the Dates Committee of the conference for an expression of opinion as to whether tho club should race on the date mentioned, in view of tho South Walrarapa meeting on February sth.
' It was decided to inform the Cromwell Jockey Club that the minimum of £65 per race must be adhered to; that optional races would not be permitted, and that so far as the rules of trotting were concerned the club was at liberty to put more than two trotting events oa its programme. It was agreed, in view of the fact that the Association had already declined to allow tho inclusion of trotting events on the programme of another West Coast Club racing on Boxing Day, that permission could not be granted to (he Westland Racing Club to include trotting events in its programme now, but that if the dates were altered to avoid clashing'with the SVestport Trotting Club, the Association would be prepared to consider favorably an application from tho Westhud ltacing Club.
The Canterbury Owners' and Breeders' Association asked for a ruling as to the, intention of rule 118 a, relative to the ro-nomlnutlon of horses, and it was decided to circularise (he clubs, drawing their attention to the rule, and to inform the Breeders' Association that the provision was now incorporated In the rules of trotting.
