The great mass of people in this country are supremely indifferent to the personal pretensions of Sir Joseph Ward, Mr. Maasey, or any other present or prospective political leader. What they desire is not to' elevate any particular leader to power and dignity, but to obtain efficient service, and they have every right to demand such service from all politicians—Dominion. He had been informed by the, First Lord of the Admiralty that New Zealand could have a suitable ship for training purposes. Certain (ships haa 'been mentioned; and eventually the Minister of Marine had sent Captain Hooper, late commander of the Amokura, to Britain to select a ship. Mr. Massey added that he had no doubt the Admiralty would provide New Zealand with a thoroughly suitable vessel for use as a training ship in place of the Amokura.
