All numbers of the Parliamentary Industries Conimitteeare entitled to credit for the part they have taken in the compilation of a particularly instructive and helpful report, and any expression of the appreciation they have so well earned certainly cannot overlook their capable chairman, Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, the member for Egmont (says the Dominion). In such an inquiry as the committee conducted the heaviest nnd most exacting task falls, of necessity, upon the chairman, and much depends upon his ability, tact, and judgment. The admirably lucid and comprehensive report presented by the Industries Committee In itself affords convincing evidence that | its chairman brought exceptional qualiI ties to bear upon his responsible duties. It is much to be regretted that Mr. Wilkinson haß decided to withdraw from politics for a time when the present Parliament expires. It is precisely men of his stamp that the country needs in Parliament, and it never needed Aem more than at the present stage, when its future prosperity so obviously depends upon great and urgent problems of development and organisation being dealt with resolutely and ii; a spirit of practical endeavor. It may be hoped that Mr. Wilkinson's retirement from the political field is temporary. The country certainly will be the gainer if later on he decided to seek re-election.
