NOTES ON THE RACING. (By Wire.—Special to News.) Bulls, Last Night. The Marlon meeting opened in splendid weather. The course was heavy, and the attendance large. Taranaki stables were well renresnted, two winning, Egmont Park and Khartoum.
The racing opened with the Hurdles, Yankee Jack being heavily supported. Master Boris made most of the running, but Yankee Jack took the lead at the turn and won easing up from Combustion.
Punters sorted Egmont Park and Nursing Sister as the best of the runners in the Bellevue Handicap. Nursing Sister led to the distance, but .Egmont Park outstayed her In the run Hum*. The View Halloa Steeplechase was a chapler of accidents. Deeslde fell at the first of the doubles, bringing down Stetson and running off Aurllre and Noflsche. Onlpoto then had the race in hand, but wont Inside die flag, leaving Patarlkl to win easily from Argo. The Speaker and Omahu carried the bulk of the money in the Marton Handicap. Penury Rose tried to win from end to end. but Omalm easily beat him in the run home. Robur shaped poorly. First Line and Mattock led all the way In the Victory Steeplechase, hut the tatter fenced the better and won comfortably. Sweet Corn led always In the Railway Handicap, winning easily from Kipling and Ermine, who were abreast. Ahlka was left at the post, but finished a close fourth. Sail Home waß a hot order In the Bracelet and looked a winner at the turn, but Khartoum finished best. Sir Fanciful was odds-on in the Welter, and Jed Into the straight, but Utuwai came on in the middle of the course In better going and won nicely.
