MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. The annual conference of the Municipal Association of New Zealand, which is to be held in Wellington noxt week, will be opened by the Governor-General on Wednesday afternoon.
CHARGE OF FRAUD. Dunedin, Laßt Night. At the Police Court William Robert Hill, an elderly man, was remanded for a week on a charge that in incurring a debt of £43 Is 3d to H. Lloyd on May 22, 1915, he obtained credit by fraud. It was alleged that accused started as a grain broker in Dunedin in April, 1915, first paying for small consignments, and later ordering large consignments and selling them on his own account. He was arrested in Auckland. Other charges are pending relative to transactions in Gore, Invercargill, Ashburton, and Oamaru.
TIMARU FARMERS' CO-OP.
Timaru, Last Night.
The Farmers' Co-operative Association's annual report shows that in the past year the total sales were £1,892,530. After making the usual provisions, also a special peace bonus of 4 per cent, on the staff's salaries and wages, and £SOO to inaugurate a staff superannuation fund, tho net profit was £32,978, The directors propose dividends of 0 per cent. on preference and 8 per cent, en the ordinary capital. The income tas was estimated at about £15,000.
