WALTON HOSPITAL CLOSED. London, Sept. *. The New Zealand hospital At WftltodoniThames has been closed. Sir Thomu Mackenzie paid a tribute to the excellent work done in the institution, wbieh had served the needs of 3000 patients. Mrs. Seddon attended the closing ceremony.

Received Sept. 2, 0.50 p.m. ' Copenhagen,. Sept. 2. A German countess and doctor wero charged with smuggling jewels. The prosecution will demand the confiscation of the jewels, which are valued at £400,000.
