THE MINISTRY.
POSITION OFFERED MR. COATES.. {By Wire—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. No further announcement has been made regarding the Ministerial appointments, but it is fairly certain that tho third new Minister will bo Mr. Coates (Kaipara). The appointment was offered to .Mr. Lee (Oanmru), but that member declined utfice for business reason*. Mr. Coates is expected to accept, and Mr. Massey will then make no furtlier appointments for the present. ( It will be remembered that Mr. Coates voted with the Liberals in 1912, and later assisted Mr. Maatsey to put out the Mackenzie Government. He has gat with the Reform Party sine* then. During the last three years he has done good service at the front, winning the Mill* tary Cross, with bar.
Members have been asking if the transfer of finance to Sir James Allen means that he is to part with th| Dsfence portfolio. There is no indicttion that this will happen at present. Mr. Coates has accepted office ia the Ministry. Mr. Lee was unable tfi> aw cept for private reasons^
