INDUSTRIAL UNREST.
ADVICE TO WORKERS. NECESSITY FOR INCREASED PRODUCTION. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 2, 820 p.m. London, Sept. 1.
Mr. Bowerman announces his intention of laying Mr. Brownlie's letter before the Trade Union Congress. He will ask the leaders to give a real lead to the necessity for increased production. , Mr. Barnes, in a speech at Walwroth, said that lop-sided organisations, governed only by materialistic and sectional considerations, were likely to result in rival organisations getting a stranglehold on the community, in which everyone, including the members of the organisation, would suffer. Mr. Barnes added that rancour and ill-will could not cure the present day evils.
EXTREMISTS DENOUNCED. Received Sept. 2, 9.55 p.m. Paris. Sept. 1. M. Albert Thomas, addressing the Socialists' Conference, denounced the extremists with Bolshevik tendencies, and urged them to close up their ranks. He preferred to withdraw rather than lead in an atmosphere of doubt and disorder. ■—Aus-N.Z. Cable Assn.
