Plans have been prepared for an up-to-dato ferro concrete private hotel of 50 rooms to be built at Raetihi, which, it is claimed, when erected, will be one of the best equipped hotels in the Dominion. Mr J. W. Gardiner has generously donated a trophy for competition in the Jersey section and Mr. A. A. Ward a trophy for competition in the Frlesian section. These trophies will replace those won outright in these sections last year. The objects of the New Plymouth Beautifying Sooiety deserve the support of citizens. Therefore the meeting called for Wednesday evening should be well attended. Few towns have the natural advantages of New Plymouth and so well repay care and attention. Although much has been done, there are many places which require further improvement, and many unsightly corners which should bo cleaned up, planted, and made beautiful resting places. These results cannot be attained without effort and money, but with a moderate amount of these many desirable improvements can be effected. At a meeting of fit. Mary's committee held on Friday final arrangements were made for the bulb bliow, which opens in St. Mary's Hall on Thursday next. Excellent promises of displays were received from exhibitors, and at is anticipated that the show will be fully up to its usual standard of excellence, which has earned for St. Mary's the reputation of its being the prettiest show of tho wear. The children's competitions for decorated tables, buttonholes, and baskets, for which prizes will be awarded, are always a feature of the show, also the collection of spring flowers, of which good entries are expected.
