Constable Dowling, of Wellington, has been notified of his transfer to New Plymonth.

Mr. A. IJ. Sykes, who has been on an extended tour in England, America, and Australia, returned to New Plymouth on Friday evening. Mrs.. W. Perry, of Vogeltown, has received word that her son, Norman, is returning by the Ayrshire, due about September 20.Mrs. Norman has received advice that her son, Trooper B. A. Norman, is returning by the Ayrshire, due in Wellington on September 20, 1019.
Captain W. H. Hawkins, ex-M.P., formerly an auctioneer and later a farmer at Okato, has joined a Wellington firm of auctioneers since returning from the front.
. It is understood that Mr. A. Lees, of Okaiawa, has definitely decided to stand for the seat on the faranaki Education Board rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. C. A. Wilkinson. A Dunedin telegram states that .it is understood that Mr. C. A. Matheson, lately appointed an inspector, will succeed Mr. Gibbs as Dunedin manager of the Bank of New Zealand. A Wellington message Btates that it is understood Mr. R. W. Gibbs, manager of the Dunedin branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has been appointed auditor of the bank, vice Mr. B. M. Litchfield, who shortly retires on superannuation.
