FREE HOSPITAL TREATMENT.

DETAILS REFUSED LOCAL BODIES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. The question of the right of a contributing body to inquire regarding individual patients treated, their names, addresses, and the actual expenditure per head, was discussed by the Wellington Hospital Board on a motion to rescind tho previous resolution refusing such information to the Lower Butt Borough (Council. It waR argued that the local authority was the best judge whether a person should be allowed to go without p'aying fees; on the other hand it was argued that the board should guard tlip feelings of those receiving free hospital treatment or charitable aid. They should not give any opening that would permit children to be jibed at for their parents'' misfortune. It was finally pointed out that the information sought was nof ascertainable anyway, and tho motion waß rejected.
