WHAT AUCKLAND IS DOING.
To the Editor. Sir, —"Over one thousand new shareholders in Juno and July* is announced by an Auckland formers' concern, and In twelve months their subscribed capital has risen from £40,000 to £315,000. Now, Sir, why cannot Taranaki absorb the unallotted shares of the Farmers' Meat Company, so as to allow the urgeutly required extensions to be gone on with at once? Wellington money in excess of requirements is otfering freely, but I hear that the directors are imxious for the shares to be held locally, so as tO' give tho owners more interest in the works. I wonder, too, that these shares aro not being offered at a premium, considering the amount of unexpected revenue all the freezing companies have lately dropped in for. Surely all the live men have not left for Auckland?—l am, etc., TARAiNAKIAN.
