HUNGARY
OVERTHROW OF JOSEPH,
ALLIES' FIRM STAND.
By T«legrtph.—tress Assn.—Copyright Received Aug. 25, 5.30 p.m.
Paris, Aug. 23. After hearing Mr. Hoover, the Supreme Council sent a telegram to the Allied mission at Buda Peath declaring that the Allies could not conclude a lasting peace with the Hungarian people as long as the existing Government, established by a coup d'etat and carried out by a small group of police under the protection of a foreign army, remained in power. The telegram adds: "The Archduke Joseph says he is ready to submit his position to the popular vote. This does not satisfy the Council, as the elections will be conducted under the auspices of his administration. Therefore the Allies are obliged to insist on the interests of the European peace. The present pretender with supreme power in Hungary must resign in order that a Government representative of nil parties may be elected."—Reutcr Service.
