TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
MEETING OP GENERAL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the general committee of the A. and P. Society was hold on Saturday afternoon there being present: Messrs W. I!. Grant (in the chair). A. T. Moore, 11. C. Sampson, C. Hoskin, C. Dobson, N. W. Hill, J. H. Allen, R. 11. Pigott, T. Luxton, T. Smcllie, C. W. Ruebe, A. R. Gudopp, and E. A. Washer. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs H. Benton and A. P. Lister. A report was received from the subcommittee set up to arrange conditions for the home kitchen garden competition, but in view of other suggestions being made the report was referred back to tiie committee for reconsideration.
A sub-committee consisting of Messrs J. S. Connett, W. B. Grant, H. 0. Sampson, E. A. Washer, C. Hoskin, and C. Dobson was set up to go into the matter of autumn show dates, a recommendation being that the date be a fortnight after the Egmont show. Messrs Grant, Sampson, and Hoskins were appointed a committee to attend to the question of green fodder growing for the autumn show. Mr. T. Luxton's offer to donate lucerne was accepted with thanks.
The finance committee was requested to go into the matter of roofing-in a further fifty stalls at the new showgrounds. Mr. C. Hoskin offered to donate his debentures towards the cost of the roofing of the stalls. Mr. T. Luxton also donated his debentures to the society. Both donations wero received with thanks. i
The offer of the New Zealand Milking Shorthorn Breeders'' Association to donate a special prize of two guineas for the best yearling bull and three guineas for the best yearling heifer was accepted With thanks.
Mr. A. A. Ward, who won the Jersey Breeders' Cup outright last year offered to donate another cup, -but preferred it should be for a different breed. This offer was gratefully accepted. In regard to the request of the New Zealand Pig 'Breeders' Association that in the breeding classes no entry should be accepted unless the animal was registered or eligible for registration in the Herd Register, it was decided to have tee provision inserted in next year's schedule and to make it operative the following year. The rcsiimation of Mr. L. W. Bishop, late of Hillsborough was accepted with regret. The following new members were elected:—Per Patua 'Dairy Co.: Messrs T. J. Cavey, H. 0. Tiiley, F. R. Jury, rind 0. Votes of thanks were passed to the following:—For growing and supplying oreen feed for the autumn show, Messrs T. Luxton. <■!. C'olson, H. C. Sampson. A. Cnlson, J. S. Connett. and W. Ogle. Supplying and carting broom for hurdles, Mr. A. P. Lister. Loan of tarpaulins for autumn and winter shows, Messrs .T. 11. Allen. J. Foster, J. S. Connett, A. B. Leech, B. Honeyfield, C. Dobson, H. C. Sampson, Ansford Bros., W. B. Grant, and the Bell Block Dairy Co. Paddock accommodation (autumn show), Mrs. Bellringer, Messrs B. Sampson. C. Coloori. C. Fox. Manning "Kins', O. Colson, J. A design for a new certificate for winter show awards was submitted •and approved.
