The Turks' National Congress at Erzerum, headed by the outlawed General Kernel Pasha, demands the preservation of Turkish integrity, and is plotting military organisation against the Allied mandates, Kernel is adopting press gang methods, and is attempting forcibly to recruit the townspeople. There have been bloody street encounters, in which the outlawed troops were worsted.

The internal situation in Anatolia continues to be disquieting. It is reported that insurgent forces entered Ouzak, on the Smyrna-Karahisser railway.
