DROWNED IN FLOODED CREEK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, August 23. The body of Linton Runciman, D.C.M., who wag drowned in a creek on Makarika station on Sunday was found yesterday. MISSING HOSPITAL PATIENT.

Napier, Last Night, A hospital patient, named Ahem, who is suffering from an incurable complaint, is missing from the institution. He escaped from the institution on Sunday last and jumped into the sea near the breakwater, but was pulled out by a passer-hy. After being sent home, he was returned to the hospital, from which he escaped again. A DETERMINED SUICIDE. Napier, Last Night. At Omahu, on Saturday morning, a man named Alfred Powdrell, who had been acting in a strange manner lately, blew off the top of his head with a shot gun. As the result of complaints received concerning Powdrell's behavior, the Natives being afraid that he would shoot somebody, Constable Murray went out, and when within 30 yards of deceased the latter put his head over the muzzle of a gun, which had been standing nearby, and pushed the trigger with a stick, death being instantaneous.
