INCOMES OF THE NATIONS.
ENORMOUS INCREASE DURING THE > WAR. An interesting estimate of the wealth per head of the nations was given by Dr. J. C. Stamp at a meeting of the Royal Statistical Society. He estimated the pre-war wealth of the United Kingdom at £14,300,000,000 and the income at £2,250,000,000. Germany stood at £16,350,000,000 capital and £2,150,000,000 income. Thus, this country had £3lB per head against Germany's £244, but the income :n the United Kingdom waa £SO per head against £3O per head in Germany The thrifty habits of the French were reflected in a capital of £303 per head, whereas Italy and Austria had £l2B and £ 21 respectively. The wonderful position and progress of the United Slates was shown by their pre-war capital of £42,000,000,000 ( £424 per head), and income of £7,250,000,000 ( £72 per head), and there was good reason to believe that the face value or these figures for 1019 would be nearlv treble these amounts. As vegards Japan, the valuation of wealth ( £2,400,000,000) was but £44 per' head, and tho income only £0 per annum per head of tho population, The income m Spain might be as low aa £ll perl head, '
