SAME PRIVILEGES AS JAPANESE.
By Telegraph—tress Mitt.— Copyright. Received Aug. 21, 9 p.m. Washington, Aug. 20. The Japanese Embassy has issued 4 statement by the Premier, M. Hara, announcing the abolition of military administration in Korea and the establish' tfeirt of civil ride. M. Hara said that the aim of the Japanese Government was to treat Korea its an integral part o* the Empire, granting the Koreans the same political and social rights as the Japanese.
The statement adds that Vac Japanese officers responsible for the recent troubles in Korea will be court-mar-tialled.
Baron Saito has been appointed Governor-General and M. Midzuno Direc-tor-General of the new Korean administration, which will speedily introduce the same system of provincial and municipal Government as is existing in Japan. —Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
