Matters at Taieri to-day looked better The river fell slowly, but steadily, and at East Taieri the water disappeared from a great deal of the land. The breaknear Otokia caused an increase in the .water south of Taieri, but in view of the falling river and the projected repair works to-morrow the position should be speedily relieved.
