MANUTAHI. < I The annual meeting of shareholders of tne Manutahi Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., was held on. Wednesday, Mr. S. C. Tonks, chairman of directors, presiding. The annual report and balance sheet were road, the former stating that the advances received from the Imporlal Government on the cheese had enabled them to pay Is 9d for butter-fat, and after providing for depreciation and placing a further sum to reserve account, the balance standing to the credit of the appropriation account would enable the directors to make a further substantial payment .'to suppliers when the cheese now In the grading works has been shipped. The annual balance sheet showed that during the past season the following amount of milk had been received and cheese and butter manufactured: Lbs of milk, 7,647,148 (233,189 decrease) ; lbs butter-fat, 297,5413 (5581.7 decrease) ; lbs cheese, 757,024 (15,000 decrease); lbs milk to lb cheese, 110.100 (.039 decrease); lbs cheese to lb butter-fat, 2.632 (.007 decrease) ; cheese test, 3.774 (042 Increase); weight cheese, 337 tons 19cwt 10 lbs (Stons 19 cwt Iqr 41bs decreose): butter-whey, 7 tons 19 cwt 2 qrs (10 cwt 2 qrs decrease); creamery, 1 ton 6 cwt lqr 91b (13 cwt 1 qr 15 lbs decrease).
In moving the adoption of the report the chairman welcomed back those boys who had gone forward and played their part In the Great War for freedom, justice and humanity. In particular he welcomed Lieutenant Hamilton, whom he would like to have seen prosent that day, when he could personally have welcomed him back on behalf of the shareholders and congratulated him on the distinction won on the battlefield. He hoped, however, that} when Lieutenant Hamilton's health was fully restored again he would resume his old position as chairman of the company. Ho congratulated shareholders on their present bala'nce-shoet, which was the best In tho history of the company. When the season's operation's were all completed, he believed thoy would have tho best pay-out in the history of the company—ln fact, he would be disappointed if they did not equal, or even do better than any other company In Taranaki. (Hear, hear). The resolution seconded by Mr. Taylor was carried unanimously. The retiring directors, Messrs, ,T. R. Taylor and S. E. McDonald, were re-elected unopposed. Mr. J. D. Thompson was re-elected auditor. ; The chairman's honorarium was Increased from £SO to £75, and It was decided to pay the directors 10s per meeting. Mr. Hooker waited upon the meeting on behalf of the Winter Show Company Mio explained its value to formers. After a brief discussion, It was resolved that the directors would "discuss at then- first meeting and favorably consider the Question of taking up shares In the Dominion Winter Show Company.
