GARDEN PARTY.
Archdeacon and Ifrs Evans and the ladies of the Te Henui Guild could not have chosen a more suitable day for their Garden Party than Wednesday afternoon, had they had the whole year to choose from. The weather was beautifully warm and the garden was looking its best with its yellow daffodils and flowering shrubs, and in the distance a lovely Japanese flowering plum tree in full bloom. Inside a delightful afternoon tea was Beryed and the many guests sitting inside or walking round the garden greatly enjoyed the musical, items given by Miss Millar (violin) and Miss Leatham (piano) . Some of the ladies played croquet and most of the visitors went upstairs to look down on a splendid view of the town with the green trees and ferns of some native bush in the foreground.
There was a very large pile of neatly tied up packages brought by 'the guests for the Te Henui Ladies' Guild jumble stall and Mr Pavell's collection of sixpences auiouited to jußt on ij'jij. Archdeacon and Mrs Evans cannot but congratulate themselves on this result, and moreover, may be sure that their guests thoroughly enjoyed the aftemopn in the lovely surroundings of "Tirolianga,"
