SIR JAMES ALLEN.
BEADY TO CONTINUE TO SERVE THE COUNTRY. By Telegraph— Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Replying to the statement published that Sir James Allen was retiring from the Cabinet, Sir .tames Allen states: "No doubt the report in this morning's newpaper to the effect that it was my intention to retire immediately from Cabinet was inserted in order to create dissension. 1 have given no indication that it is my intention to retire from Cabinet, nor is it my Vish to do so as long as my services may be of use to the Government or people in the difficult times which we must face as the aftermath of the war. It seems to me, personal wishes must be put aside and everyone, politicians and others, should render whatever services they are capable of to bring about peace, contentment, and prosperity. The suggestion that I am intent upon becoming the leader of a new political party is entirely without foundation. There appears to be a very general feeling throughout the country that every effort should be made to secure a strong Government, and with this I am in entire accord."
