A BOGUS DOCTOR.
SIX MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT. r'_ Tn the Thames Police Court last week ' Alfred Mitdiell was charged with having obtained £l(t from Oeorae Nolo, a o*l- - by false pretences, wilfitllv and falsely posing ns a medical practitioner, nnd receiving £0 on terms requiring him to pay Maria Fislior, and appropriating the same (reported the Auckland Star's correspondent). He pleaded guilty.. Sergeant McDonnell Baid accused stopped at a boarding-house' in Thames • in December last, where Nolo was sick. Accused claimed to be a doctor, examined the Dajmatian, and said ho would cure him fof £3O. The man paid £lO on ''■ account. Accused rubbed his back with name liniment, and after three bottles had been used, as there was no improvement, Nolo declined to pay more money. Accused also examined a-woman in tile , boarding-house.
