DAIRY COMPANIES.

TIKORANGI DAIRY COMPANY. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of ihe TllMrfinjl Dairy Company was hold yesterday, the chairman of directors (Mr. C. Foreman), presiding over n eood attendance of shareholders. In moving the adoption of the report (which lias already appeared in these columns), the chairman congratulated the shareholders on the success of the past year's operations. He aahl they had sot a Into start owing to the Government not completing arrangements for the butter supply, hut they had eventually got under way nud had n very satisfactory season. The mill; supply had been a little below that of the previous year, and so had the cream and the test had not been quite so high as last ysar. Tile chairman made reference to the decrease In Ihe fuel. consumption during the year; He thought It due to the ability of the manager, though there might have been some slight mistake in the estimate of the stock of cool in hand last year. He then referred to the probability that they might he again In the same position as thoy were last year should the freezing companies demand that, they take up more shares. The Box Company had socured a new white pine area, and they might have to double their capital In order to meet the payment. He thought, however, they could looli forward to the future with' confidence, and lie had pleasure In moving the adoption of the report and bal-ance-sheet. The motion was seconded by Mr. Hicks and carried unanimously. The retiring directors, Messrs. C. Foreman and J. Whitehead, were re-elected. Mr. A. J. Tunbrldge was re-elected auditor. The matter of a bonus to the manager was then discussed, a resolution being moved that he be voted the sum of £ls. An amendment was moved to tho effect that ho should be voted an amount equal to half tho value of the coal saved during the year. The chairman remarked that he thought the manager should receive a bonus, but tlint the first one proposed was too low, aid the other too high. Tho amendment, on being put, was lost by a substantial majority. A further amendment was then moved that a bonuß of £25 bo granted, but this waß not seconded. In reply to a question, tho chairman stated that no bonus was paid to the manager last year. He also pointed out that he had had no holiday during the two years lie had been with the company, and he thought he was therefore entitled to something for the extra month overtime he had worked. There had been no one whom he could leave In charge of the factory if lie had gone away. Subsequently a motion that tho manager be voted £OO was carried unanimously, amidst applause. The manager suitably acknowledged the vote saying that while there might have been some saving through skill In etoking, he thought It due chiefly to tho decision of the directors In putting In a- new boiler with plenty of reserve of steam power. Mr. O'Carroll moved that tho directors be recommended to consider the motion of putting a hot-wnter pipe to the skim milk stand so that suppliers could get a drop of hot water there. The chairman pointed out that while there would be no objection to laying on the hot water as suggested, suppliers would have to recognise that there were times when the water supply was short, and they would havo to keep off the hot water then. They might., perhaps, by an Inside tap be able to cut off the suoply at such times. The motion was carried. It was decided to vote the sum of £SO as an honorarium to the chairman. Mr. Foreman suitably acknowledged tho vote. A motion by Messrs. Vlckery and G. Foreman that the company vote tho sum of (id per ton on the butter output, to tho Taranaltl Agricultural and Pastoral Association, was lost by a large majority.

At a subsequent meeting of directors, Mr C Foreman waa re-elected chairman.
