The Metropolitan Trotting Club's August meeting opened in excellent weather and before a large attendance. The track was slightly holding after the rain during the week. The totalisator handled £31,852 10s, against £38,777 10s on the corresponding day last year. Results:

morning, and there was a large crowd of interested spectators to witness the iinal gallops. The inside of the trial grass was open for fast work only, and all the gallops recorded were done on it, unless otherwise mentioned. The sand and tan were also available.
lleiro and Battle Array were on terms at the ciul of six: furlongs, run in 1.22. Lionskin, alone, skipped over Ave furlongs in 1.7 2-5, finishing well. St. Curio was given a round of the big fences, but the exhibition waa only fair. Single Rose, who was picked up by Hands Off at the half-mile post, ran five furlongs in 1.8. Hands Off was easily the better of the two. Sonnino and Risingham finished on terms at the close of a. six furlongs sprint, the last five being done in 1.8. Reformation easily accounted for Wild Pilgrim over six furlongs, run in 1.23. Art, with the assistance of Amar(inthus, ran a mile and a quarter in 2.19,linishing very well. Elocution beat Sir Ralph at the end of five furlongs, run in 1.0. Sir Ralph took 1.52-5 for the journey. Gamecock, who is looking very well, was given very steady work over two rounds of the sand.
Sir Solo, alone, ran the last 'seven furlongs of a mile in 1.40 2-5, finishing well. He is improving with every gallop. Moorabbe ran six furlongs, alone, in 1.23 2-5.
Winslow had the better of Marvelite over the concluding stages of a mile, run in 1.55. Ilardshot, with Gaylight as a companion, was given a round of the hurdles. Both gave a very ordinary showing. Rewi Poto, with Multive for a mate, was given a turn ov»r the fences, the latter pleasing most They were afterwards given strong work. Potentiality and Form Up were associated in a dash over seven furlongs, which they left behind in 1.35, the former having slightly the better of the duel at the finish. Sisyphus was sprinted up the back, going well. Waimai gave Polthogue a bad'beating over seven furlongs, run in 1.42, the latter being ten lengths away at the finish.
Samiel and a companion left seven furlongs behind in 1.35, the former gaining many friends by the resolute way he finished his task.
Sapper and Fabisco were companions over six furlongs, run in 1.24, and both worked well. Glensliine and Dardanelles tvere given a good working gallop. Coalition, with Bore for a mate, were cent over the big country. Both jumped in fme style,, ' Borodino, easily acroimted for Gold Kip (who had a very light boy up) and Sir Agnes over the concluding stages of six furlongs, run in 1.23. Gold Kip was not doing his best. Helair and Pvjama were on terms at the close of five furlongs, run in 1.8. lied Koa, who was ridden by Len. Hcsarty, while doing steady work broke a fetlock and was shot. It is very unfortunate for his connections, as he looked like winning at the meeting. Greekson, with a companion at the start, but who was dropped, covered five •furlongs in 1.10, while Kaminohe sprinted four furlongs in 50 2-5, and Stravshot left four furlongs behind in 551-5 sec. Parisian Diamond was much too .good for All Over in the concluding stages of seven furlongs, run in 1.38 3-5.
Signature, ftlline, had a good working gallop over seven furlongs, which was run in 1.43 1-5.
Post 'Haste, alone, left five furlongs behind in 1.0 2-5, 'finishing well. Sonny sprinted four furlongs in CO 3-5
Seville and Cynic started for a round of the hurdles, but the latter only jumped two. The pair afterwards ran six furlongs in 1.30.
Ga?.Hiue,' wilh a'lot the worst of the weights, beat liangi -Afoha over six furlongs, run in 1.21. This was a good gallop, the former doing it easily. Gang Awa was better than Master Strowan over a mile, run in 1.512-5.
Some Kid sprinted four furlongs in 52sec, and Manawapango was better than Merry Lad at the end of a'tittile, run in 1.55 3-5.
Traditor and Fairy Finn were companions over a round of fences. Both gave .i fail' allowing.
Cerberus, when about 130 yards from the winning' post, appqaral' frightened by some other horses and jumped from the grass track to the plough. Luckily lie was not injured, and pulled up sound. He was; going five furlongs. The Grand and Sanilown were given a turn over the big country, negotiating it well.
Tip Up, alone, ran six furlongs in 1.24, finishing very well.
Lochclla, Morecamlie, and Lawsuit were given a round of the big fences and all jumped well.
Charley, alone, van six furlongs in 1.21, finishing very well; while Kilbovne left the last four of six furlongs behind in /Usee., but did not finish well. Rebekah, with Imaribbon to nssist her over the early stages, left a mile bejiind in doiu£ it very niceU'»
