WELLINGTON SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, August 6. At the Supreme Court Micftael Purcell for theft of goods wag sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, Roy Albert Delaney, charged with committing a criminal assault on a girl nine years of age at Petone was found guilty and remanded till to-morrow for sentence. DUNEDIN SESSIONS. Dunedin, August 6. At the Supreme Court to-day Victor Fraser Kett was convicted of indecently assaulting a girl aged six. The foreman, in announcing the verdict, added that the jury were of opinion that in these cases of assault on children the birch should be used. Mr. Justice Sim said it would be a matter of flogging. The foreman: It is our recommendation that something be done to stop these assaults if possible. The judge remanded prisoner for sentence, saying he would consider the jury's recommendation.

Dunedin, Last Night. Alexander Valentine Walquist and John Joseph McClusky were acquitted on a charge" of setting fire to a -hut and Canadian flax. A lad named William Edward Gillespie was acquitted of a charge of attempted familiarity with a girl barely sixteen. ' ~ • NOT GUILTY. Christchurch, Last Night. A verdict of not guilty was returned at the Supreme Court by the jury in the case of Jack Condon, charged with indecently , assaulting a girl under 10 years of age. The jury added a rider that accused should leave the court without a stain on his character. Christchurch, Last Night. In the Supreme Court, Charles John Flutey and his two sons, Charles James Flutey, and Percy Harold Flutey, were found guilty of.robbery with violence. The father was sentenced to 1 twelve months' imprisonment, and the sons to two years.
