Childr, > tvho beat the local dog Commenor,' owned ;4 by W. P. Haskell. The Supplementing Stakes was won by Gloaming, owned "By-9 i the popular local sport Mr. P. Nlchi|Qi,f *' who beat Doolaghty and Jarrefrt's C*oloy-£' Isle. The arrangements for the me^Wr '(' were excellent, and reflected great credit t ? on the officials, in particular the acting ■ secretary, Mr. F. Doughty, who took ÜB-t'i the position at short notice. On Satw*. day Mr. C. Evetts, of Oaonui, secretary " ! ' t of the Egmont Club, rendered valmlde '*' assistance. Mr. C. A. Woolford acted •*•'" judge, his decisions generally huhw ' ' satisfactory. In the evening a smoke concert wag held in the Foresters' Hall, whan Mr.. S. G. Smith, M.P., presided. There wtt, a large attendance, among those ptieat ' being Mr. W. T. Jcnninge, M.P. A» enjoyable evening was spent, a number of toasts being honored, whilst several musical items were rendered. During , the evening the prizes won at the meeting were distributed. .» . So successful did the meeting prove " that it has been decided to hold another one in September, and a committee meeting will be held at Mr. F. Nieholl's rooms on Wedneaday evening to make ' arrangements.
