FIRES.
FIRES AT KAKARAMEA. A fire was discovered in a span room in Iho Knkaransea Hotel shortly after 1 o'clock on Monday morning. Some boarders noticed the smell of fii\> and discovered the spare rotan on fire, but ft few buckets of water extinguished the flamea. About, an hour and a half afterwards the boarders were aroused by a further smell of fire, this time in the butcher's shop occupied by Mrs. Qninn and a family of eight children. The flames had a good hold when the fire was discovered, and the family was quickly got out. Nothing, however, could be done to save the building, which wag completely destroyed.—Press.
