ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
INQUEST ON GIRL By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Xig'ht. At the adjourned inquest on the girl Coventry, aged 11 years, a verdict was returned that deceased died from a gunshot wound in the stomach, but there was not sufficient evidence to satisfy the coroner as to whether the wound was self-inflicted or accidental. THE ELTHAM FATALITY. The Hawer& Star gives the following particulars of' tko fatal motor accident at JSltham on Wednesday:— * It appears that Mr. McQueen was driving home from town, and was overtaking Mr. Bunfc's car, driven by Mr. C. Cossey, just as the latter waa about to enter the gate jo Mr. Bunn's residence. Both, drivers were sounding their horns, as there were children on the road, and Mr. Cossey was not aware that Mr. Mc- j Queen's "car was so close behind- The collision occurred just as Mr. Cossey was. turning off the road. Mr. McQueen's car struck the other a glancing blow, and completely capsized. Mrs. Frances E. McSweeney, aged 05, ofMata, with her daughter, Mrs. J. ,Potts, was driving with Mr. McQueen. The latter occupied the front seat with Mr. McQueen, and both were thrown clear when the car overturned. Mrs. McSwev.iey was, however, not so fortunate, being caught by the back of the car and pinned to the ground. Assistance was immediately forthcoming, and Mrs. McSweeney was carried into Mr. Bunn's I house, where she died. The car was con slderably damaged. Mr. Bunn's car and tjje occupants (Mr. Cossey and one passenger) escaped unhurt.
