REPATRIATION.

THE NEW PLYMOUTH COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the New Plymouth Repatriation Committee was held last evening, .there being present: Messrs O. H. Weston (chairman), W. J, Chaney, T. Furlong, P. W. Okey, B. J. Clark, fc Whittle, T. C. List, J. E. Eowlands, H. if Catley, E. B. Ellerm, and A. S. Allen (secretary)..

The secretary reported tliat two exsoldiers had been placed in employment, and there were five on the books awaiting positions. Two applications for houses and one for land hart been furnished with information and referred to the Commissioner for Lands, An application for sustenance was: granted, as was un application for the payment of fees in connection with 5 correspondence course. Training allowances were authorised in respect of three who wished to take up work other (ban that which they followed previous to enlistment. An application for a farm .training allowance was refused. Loans for tools of trade were authorised in respect of three ex-soldiers. Seven applications for furniture loans were considered and passed, as were an application for £2. r io for dairy cows and two applications of £3OO each for the purchase of businesses. A further application for a loan for the purchase of « country business was deferred until next meeting.
