Public interest centres in the situation in Northern Russia. The Bolsheviks claim that they are advancing along the Archangel railway. The revolt of Ditmer's battalion, composed of former Bolsheviks, who murdered five of their British officers, facilitated the capture of Onega. The Bolsheviks, learning of the rising, niftrehed eighty miles in twenty-four hours, reached Onega and captured valuable booty. The Pall Mall Gazette says it is stated in official circles that there is nc immediate danger of a military catastrophe in Russia. Withdrawal in any case is intended, but possibly reinforcements will be sent to secure the evacuation. France has already sent reinforcements —Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc.

A RAILWAY DISASTER. MORE BOLSHEVIK MURDERS. REPORTED MINING OF TRANSPORT. Received July 27, 5.5' p.m. Copenhagen, July 26. A train from Moscow to Kieff was derailed and caught fire. All the passengers were killed. Helsingfors reports state that Bolshevists murdered four well-known professors of Kieff University, also Nikolski, a Conservative politician, who was charged with belonging to a secret antiBolshevik organisation. A wireless from Moscow states that the transport Roma, carrying officers for General Deniken'a army, was mined in the Black Sea.
