A return received by the Minister for" Defence shown that at the end of May 56,757 New Zealand soldiers had returned to the Dominion, and ft further 3206 relumed during June, making a total of Go,of>3. Of these the number gazetted out or discharged was 01,578, returned to duty IGO't, awaiting discharge 3048, awaiting return to duty 61, under treat- , ment in hospital !)!)7, in convalescent homes 301, under treatment as outpatients 2054. A summary of the war casualties to July 14 gives the following information: Officers wounded ..-.-r.r..T.» 1,662 Officers died ...v 742 Other ranks wounded 38,346 Other ranks died .....-..... 15,409 Other ranks missing _._._vj;v. 1 Grand total ..*.....-.-., 66,160
