In the House of Lords debate on nationalisation, Lord Milner stated that the Government had an open mind on the control of 'the' industry. He hinted at the possibility that State mines would be tried experimentally in a few areas. DOMINION PREFERENCE.
London, July 17. The Houae of Commons rejected a motion for the abolition of the income-tax on profits from pales of the Dominions' produce to the Unitde Kingdom, Mr. Chamberlain stated that the motion would give preference to the Dominion manufacturer as compared with the home producer. BLACK v. WHITE PROBLEM. Washington, July 22. Numerous assaults of negroes upon White women in the city resulted in race rioting, in which two whites and two negroes were killed and several injured. There have been two hundred arrests. The negroes are the better armed, and parade the streets shouting defiance.
